Brooklyn, New York, March 23rd, 2007: "Sean "Ope" Williams announces the plans for his first film "Know you got Sole" a documentary about NYC sneaker culture."
Sean "Ope" Williams, also known to the sneaker world as "Paper Chasr" was inspired. After the success of last year's sneaker documentary "Just for Kicks" the 35 year old sneaker lover was inspired by what he saw and did not see in that ground breaking film. This caused him to direct, and produce his own documentary titled "Know You Got Sole" through his management/music and film production company Ope entertainment. He has teamed up with Gurber Mathews of Kyrotek Industries to produce the film. It's a documentary that will touch on various topics within sneaker culture but addressed from a New York City perspective. "I was delighted by what I saw in Just for Kicks, but I got motivated to do my film by what I didn't see in it as well", says Paper Chasr. "I also don't believe that things almost all people across the world partake in should be covered from a celebrity point of view", he added. "Know you got Sole!" will address such topics as the struggle for guys who wear size 13 and up to get fresh kicks, the views of female sneaker collectors, and an interesting discussion about how and why people lace thier sneakers the way they do. Those topics are among 3 or 4 others that will feature a well rounded opinion of sneaker culture from the mouths of everyday New Yorkers who religiously represent it with no apologies. Some of the voice-over work on the film will be done by none other then Hip-Hop's father DJ Kool Herc. "Without him, none of this is cool, or relevant. I just wanted to make that point for those who have taken the origins of everything connected to Hip-Hop for granted". DJ Kool Herc will also be the Executive Producer for the "Know You Got Sole!" soundtrack. The soundtrack will feature Hip-Hop and R&B artists that are sneaker lovers as well.
"Know you got Sole!" will be formatted for viewing as a one hour special on a soon-to-be-determined network. Marketing and promotion for the film will include Myspace.com, Youtube, and other internet technology. The film will then be released on DVD later this year. The DVD will have lots of additional bonus footage. The soundtrack will also be made available through independent distribution worldwide as well as, the now standard internet distribution channels as well.
