StyleFeeder!

Have you tried StyleFeeder? It's a social shopping site -- a giant wishlist for the whole web you can share with your friends. The idea is to highlight your favorite stuff online (Karmaloop, duh), browse your friends' wishlists to see what they like, and rate other people's picks to get recommendations for yourself. Rating and tagging stuff can get pretty addictive, but the best part is finding something you like that you would never have found before. That's how I found Creature Co-Op, for example.

KarmaLoop's own Giovannah has a pretty nice selection, but don't take her word for what's good. See (and rate!) the whole world of jeans, sneakers , hats, and a world of everything else: somebody put an alpaca in there once.

     Jive Recording Artist Huey launches YouTube Video Contest

(Brooklyn, NY November 13th 2006) Jive Records and St. Louis emcee Huey is proud to announce the launch of a YouTube video contest in support of his breakout single, "Pop, Lock & Drop It." Fans submit videos of their interpretation of the song for a chance to win a Sony HD TV surround sound system. Huey, age 19, will release his debut album, Notebook Paper, on Jive Records in early 2007.

Huey began to show promise when he began producing beats and writing rhymes for upcoming rappers in the infamous St. Louis neighborhood of Kinloch. Fast-forward 5 years and Huey had partnered up with local entrepreneur Angela Richardson and formed his own production company, Huey Records.  Local clubs and regional radio put "Pop, Lock & Drop It" into regular

rotation, and it wasn't long before he started attracting attention at a national level.

Jive Records VP of A&R Mickey "MeMpHiTz" Wright recognized Huey's young talent and signed him immediately. Wright has helped along the careers of artists such as YoungBloodZ, J-Kwon and T-Pain. Huey is now hard at work on his debut album, Notebook Paper. Why this title?  Huey explains, "Well for one, when it all comes down to it, I am making paper [money] off of a notebook. And two--I sat down, watched the streets, and placed the streets into a notebook."

Rumor has it that there are only 8000 made, so these are definitely going to go fast. Being considered the Most Hyped Hoody of the Fall/Winter. Early 90s Dance Jam 6!

Early 90s Dance Jam 6  Featuring P.M. Dawn

Snap!, Paula Abdul, Dee-Lite, MC Hammer--you know you get down.

On Thursday, November 16th 10PM-2AM, redline in Harvard Square is hosting the Early 90s Dance Jam 6, a night full of your favorite tracks from back in the day. Spinning the signature tunes of the decade are DJs: Stereo MC and Chuck D, who will of course be throwing down to the likes of Biz Markie, LLCoolJ,  and Montell Jordan only to name a few. Also slated for the night is the early 90s supergroup, P.M. Dawn, who straddled the gap between hip-hop and smooth 70s -style soul during their reign.

Creating a innovative urban R&B that owned as much to pop as it did to rhythm and blues, P.M. Dawn's premire record, Of the Heart, of the Soul, of the Cross:The Utopian Experience, was an  immediate hit, thanks to the international hit "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" which  reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in November 1991 and also #3 in the United Kingdom.

Helly Hansen Love Campaign

Helly Hansen and New Era team up for the LOVE

Wanting to innovate amongst the 59fifty cap decorations, Soldier Design specified Helly Hansen's proprietary waterproof/breathable fabric as the premise to construct this New Era cap--truly weaving Helly Hansen's genetic-code into the design. According to Soldier Design “the integrated stitch pattern is unique to geodesic dome technology, inspired by the infamous Buckminster Fuller, who was always working to advance humanity's option for success and doing ‘more with less’.” Building off that energy, they outsmarted the traditional cap vents with tear-drop shaped vents, interior cap details and smart packaging, to complete the entire package. 

Love is Helly Hansen’s Flow System. "A place where thoughts, creativity and innovation flow, get heard and implemented. It’s a non-public, ultra insider program that was created to promote artist/brand/enthusiast collaboration." The entire line is only available through the issuement of an exclusive membership card by an HH representative. It is from this campaign that Helly Hansen hopes to seek people out who share the same passion to innovate create meaning and invent, for the love.

Lunar (Croatian Graffiti Artist),"Beastz and Bugz" @ Invisible NYC

LUNAR BEASTZ AND BUGZ

Invisible NYC is proud to host a solo-exhibit by Croatian artist, Lunar. His art is fueled by his own graffiti as well as the graffiti of others, such as CMP and Mode2. Lunar's graffiti work has been immortalized in publications such as Nicholas Ganz's "Street Art: Graffiti From Five Continents"

Lunar is responsible for co-founding Croatia's first graffiti crew, YCP, in 1992. He has since been commissioned by numerous city councilors across Croatia to add his unique, illustrative style of graffiti on community walls through out his country; and is one of the head creative forces who turned blank and barren walls specifically throughout his home of Zagreb, Croatia into renewed and vibrant, works of public art. One cannot go even a few blocks in Zagreb without coming across Lunar's art either on a small scale, as! in his 2-dimansional dogs placed in the grass of neighborhood parks, or his large wall murals on the sides buildings. Lunar has also created work for major advertising companies such as Coca-Cola, Nissan, and Sony Playstation. His work tends to be optimistic and technically flawless in execution.

For his first exhibit in the U.S., Lunar will recreate on large canvases his inquisitive and odd-shaped animal and bug inspired creatures that have become his signature icon throughout the streets of Zagreb. The "beastz" are rendered in an organic red, black and white. By direct contrast, the "bugz" are solely in black and white. The deliberate use of a limited color palette coupled with a lively, electrifying background allows the characters to boldly address the viewer and present their individual personalities. This simplicity provides for an uplifting and dynamic exhibit of happy ..beastz and bugz.. frolicking on and redefining what are usually blank, white gallery wal! ls. However, while the subject matter is light-hearted and al! most chi ld-like, the subtle details and unyielding execution, using only three colors (or non-colors), are testament to the larger social context of what's acceptable public art vs. graffiti (what some believe to be vandalism) in both Croatia and around the world.

The exhibit will run from November 16th - December 16th, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 8:00 PM. The opening reception will be on Thursday, November 16th from 7:00-9:00 PM with special Deejay, Sergio Vega.
