Friday Oct. 13 - Female Sneaker Fiend reunites with Sneaker Pimps as over 2000 guests will watch as Kgiovanna, Fetti Dbiasi, E the Custom Queen, Sher Sher, Pikaso and d-nyc battle it out all night. At Avalon (20th + 6th).

Saturday October 14th - From 1-4 PM, Female Sneaker Fiend, PowerHouse Books, and VH-1's hiphop honors week presents and all-girl venue for a custom clinic and competition. Saturday October 14th - Female Sneaker Fiend comes through for the culmination of their weekend with an after party and live auction with DJ Elle. Just kick it as people bid on items from artists like Claw, Toofly, Dave White, Darin Hager and Problak, as well as great companies like Luxirie, Sneaker Freaker, Laces, I Got Sole, Pointer Footwear, Goliath and more. Scion Sampler V.15 & SA/V 12" Vinyl

Scion keeps the hits coming on their A/V label with their brand new release of Scion CD Sampler v.15 - Award Tour and a 12" vinyl release of El Michels Affair and Raekwon. The 12" features some new Raekwon verses and El Michels flipped it of course with their timeless soul sound. Each 12" that Scion releases (totally free, by the way) features a collaboration between two artists - one doing a cover or live remix of the other's. All summed up, Scion is definitely pushing the mixtape envelope.

The Scion CD Sampler v.15 is twenty-eight tracks and features bangers by Ghostface & MF Doom, Spank Rock, Kano, Bloc Party, Memphis Bleek, Aloe Blacc, Chromeo, A-Trak, The Streets, and many others. I would go cop this ASAP because they're not going to be around forever!

Glue

Catch As Catch Can

Glue's sophomore full length was released a little under a month ago and their album has been flying around the office. Adeem (only emcee to win the Scribble Jam battle twice!) and djdq spit on "Catch As Catch Can" and have a unique approach to their rhymes. The real standout piece of Glue is Maker, who makes the beats and DJs for the group. If you aren't up on Maker I recommend "The Harvest" by Qwel & Maker. His beats have always been straight fire.

One of the most impressive things about Glue is their DIY work ethic. Their debut album was just sold at shows and on their website. These boys work hard. So give Glue a lesson and see what everyone's talking about. Remember, we told you first.

Fall Art Season Begins in NYC

There's a fabulous article up at Crown Dozen right now about the fall season of the New York art scene going into full effect. A number of artists are featured with blurbs about each exhibitor. Chelesa is full of energy right now and within a radius of about ten blocks there are so many good shows it's hard to see them all. Crown Dozen gives love to one of my personal favorites, Barnaby Furnas, who was just featured in the most recent issue of Beautiful/Decay magazine. An exhibit called "Super Heroes" at the Jewish Museum also caught my attention. According to Crown Dozen, "Super Heroes" features original Jack Kirby drawing boards, Robert Crumb's sketchbooks, as well as Chris Ware originals, amongst a slew of other artists. If you're in the NYC area, be sure to stop by Chelsea and get a first hand look at what everyone is talking about.
