So what's the latest gadget, you ask? No, it's not a cell phone that can play movies, mp3s, give people massages, and make tasty popcorn all at the same time. The newest gadget is a laptop. Now I know what you're saying. “What's so special about that?” Well, this isn't any ordinary laptop. This laptop is being produced for $100. That's right; it's not a type-o.
This laptop will cost $100 to make. An organization named One Laptop per Child (OLPC) being headed by Nicholas Negroponte has been created to give children everywhere a chance to learn as those of us in more fortunate positions do. Their goal is to provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves. The laptops will be equipped with a 7.5 inch display, a 133 MHz processor, and 128 MB of RAM. Want to learn more, or even contribute about this amazing organization? Check out their website at http://www.laptop.org
