Now that many Americans own an MP3 player and most new cars come standard with CD players, there is little reason to listen to the radio. Who would want to hear the same worn out songs played on an hourly loop when they have a customized database of 2,000 at their disposal? The problem with abandoning the radio is that it leaves new artists with little chance of being discovered by audiences. Internet radio stations are the perfect solution to those who are unsatisfied with the choices offered on traditional radio stations.
Accuradio is the world’s largest independent Internet radio station, with 300 channels that appeal to every possible musical taste. Throughout the month of July, the site will be introducing a new channel dedicated to a different style of music every week. These include stations that play mixes of music that aren’t usually heard together, such as “Future Perfect,” which mixes indie rock with electronic, classic punk, and underground rock.
Accuradio recently introduced a hip-hop channel that follows the genre through its early roots to its most contemporary artists. It also allows listeners to get a free lesson in music history with its extensive selection of oldies divided up by decades, regions, genres, and genders. As hot as some of the garage rock revival bands may be, they are nothing compared to the originals.
One of Accuradio’s most unique features is the customization of individual stations. For example, if you love classic rock but hate Bryan Adams, you can tune in to Classic Rocktopia and deselect Mr. Adams from the playlist. This ensures that Summer of 69 will never follow Thunderstruck and potentially ruin your rock and roll fantasies.
