Until 2005: Leslie Feist was just "the girl that sings on “Broken Social Scene", but thanks to Let It Die and appearances in Norwegian duo Kings of Convenience’s record Riot on an Empty Street, she has proven herself a figure to be in the pop songwriting industry. With a gentle, summery tone that is so perfect it's almost sickening.
A nod to Bee Gee’s in "Inside and Out" is not the only time Feist gives praise to those who came before her. And who could forget one of the most perfect summer waltzes, "Mushaboom"?
In her record, Let It Die, Feist has created a modern and rare kind of acoustic-pop-rock. So rare that everyone from my friend’s mom to the dude my roommate invites over can enjoy.
