With their October release of Campfire Headphase, the elusive Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin (Sandison) have finally disclosed some information about themselves after 10 years of producing music and gaining a huge following with very few interviews or shows. After all this time, we come to find out they’re brothers, denying this fact for ages for fear of being compared to other sibling sound-makers. Growing up in rural Scotland, the brothers learned to play their parents’ instruments and began recording their music at the age of 10. Inspired by early rock such as the Beatles and Joni Mitchell, Boards of Canada have modernized the psychedelic. Combining pre-recorded flute, guitar, piano, radio, TV voice overs, mixing and a little love, the result is a sullen electronica, banking on soft sorrow. Campfire Headphase is receiving mixed reviews, some fans feel that the band is stuck in a stalemate while others don’t want them to change a bit. Decide for yourself, check it out...
