Tokion...It's one of the best art and culture  magazines out there. Seriously, they're killing it every issue.  So if you don't know, you should. Their mission is to seek out and explore with the sickest designers and artists. Their features are presented intellectually with the focus on art .... always. 

So what's new you ask? They are taking it and slapping it on t-shirts.  Now fans of Tokion and its featured artists can represent with gear.  The Tokion t- shirts come with designs  from an array of talented artists from Kim Jones to  Josh Petherick to Benjamin Cho.  Who knows what comes next?  It would be dope to get some Jeff Koons up in the mix....

Impressive Photography

This series of photographs, taken and collected by French photographer Thierry Le Gouès, really blew my mind.  His book called Popular, named after the federal Cuban cigarette, is a compilation of life in Cuba among the Cubans.  I don't know if this just struck a nerve because I am of Cuban descent, but in my opinion these photographs truly capture the juxtaposition of living in poverty and pleasure.  The book displays  the "rarely seen Havana social life" with hedonistic imagery.  Le  Gouès  uses doutone and four colored photography which reflect the
"raucous, heat-soaked street parties; spirited sparring matches in crumbling gymnasiums; voluptuous nudes plying their wares in derelict mansions..." of this Communist island nation.

Four Tet

The musical beats of Kieran Hebden’s Four Tet combines the elements of hip-hop with free jazz, Sun Ra style.  The music provides a deliciously enriching electronic experience as it combines the elements above.  Kieran’s 2003 album “Rounds” was the most critically acclaimed electronic album of all time. Four Tet is releasing a new single, Sun Drums and Soil remixed by Sa Ra Creative Partners. If you are going to be in the Boston area this week, come through to the courtyard at the Museum of  Fine Arts, where Four Tet will be performing al fresco.
