BLOODFEAST 2007
Halloween party to benefit local journalism scholarship
BOSTON
-- A diverse crowd of reporters, editors, artists, photographers, designers,
DJs, and drag queens will descend upon Machine nightclub to celebrate
Bloodfeast on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007.
This will be the 4th
annual Bloodfeast party in Boston
. The New England chapter of the Society
of Professional Journalists (www.spj.org/newengland) throws this huge Halloween
bash every year to fund a scholarship for college students studying
journalism.
Four of the city’s
finest DJs -- DJ Mothra, Michael Savant, Punketta Doilie and Shivar -- will
spin music all night long, and there will be live performances by extreme
fashion designer/entertainer Sarula, electro-dance collective [:angeldustrial:],
burlesque star Mademoiselle Lena and the renegade dance troupe known as 123
Party.
NESPJ chapter president
Emily "Spikey Em" Sweeney and local glass artist Emily Lombardo will
emcee the Halloween costume pageant at the end of the night.
Machine nightclub is
giving away $1,000 cash as the grand prize for best costume, and runner-up
contestants will win prizes from Johnny Cupcakes and Karmaloop
Boston.
All of this Halloween mayhem is for a good cause – everyone will
receive information about upcoming blood drives from the American Red Cross,
and proceeds from the door will benefit the NESPJ scholarship.
Sponsors and supporters of the party include Boston ’s Weekly Dig
(www.weeklydig.com), MF Magazine (www.musicfashionmagazine.com),
Lemon Magazine (www.lemonland.net), Sin-O-Matic, and
Ogygia Avenue Films.
